“If you’re going through hell, keep going. Never, never, never give up.” – Winston Churchill.

Everyone has hopes, dreams, aspirations, plans and goals they would like to achieve. Fulfilling them takes dedication and perseverance. We all experience times when things don’t go exactly as we had planned; when our best doesn’t seem to be good enough, when things become frustratingly difficult and when our strength is well and truly depleted. Experiencing failure can be very demotivating and repeated failures even more so. Tough times are part of life. Sometimes we rise to the challenge and other times we feel like we just can’t face it. The fact of the matter is, we all experience situations when we feel we have nothing left to give and we feel like giving up.

When you give up, you don’t just throw in the towel but you actually relinquish your hopes, dreams, goals etc. It’s ironic that giving up sounds so utterly freeing when in truth it imprisons. You may experience a short lived feeling of relief when you choose to give up but when reality sets in you find yourself crippled by feelings of self-loathing, inadequacy and fear of failure. You also struggle with a complete lack of inspiration and seem unable to muster up any enthusiasm. Giving up is not a solution, it is a trap.

Success requires perseverance. In the face of trials and challenges you need to push on. “Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” – Confucius. Giving up should not be an option. We don’t need to celebrate our failures but we should certainly learn from them. Thomas Edison put it perfectly when he said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Every failed attempt can be used as a stepping stone to your success. You have to just keep moving. Keep trying. Be relentless and determined in your pursuit of success.

“It always seems impossible until it’s done.” – Nelson Mandela.
Attitude is very important. A negative attitude attracts a negative outcome. Whereas a positive attitude attracts a positive outcome. Adopting a defeatist mind-set will more often than not lead to an unfavourable result. Whilst adopting a tenacious mind-set will birth enthusiasm, setting you up for success. Having a “nothing is going to stop me, I can do this” frame of mind will help you to keep going until you achieve what you are striving towards. Yes, there are times when it feels too hard, it is then that you need to purposefully guard your thoughts and push on. The reward is worth the effort. Success requires dedication. What you believe, you give power to. Will you choose to see your situation/goal as hopeless, or will you choose to remain hopeful? Attitude can be a hindrance or a help. Don’t give up!

“Success consists of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.” – Winston Churchill

I wrote Jojo’s journey to encourage children to persevere. Through this entertaining story, Jojo the giraffe, shows children how not giving up can help them to achieve a goal. Jojo’s journey is a colourful picture book with an enjoyable story. Join Jojo, the lonely giraffe, on her adventurous journey in the African bush where she searches for a friend. She meets lots of different animals along the way but does she make any friends? Read this heart-warming story to find out.

If you have read this story please take the time to leave a review.  If not, you can order your copy of ‘Jojo’s journey’ book from Amazon and various other leading online retailers.
I hope this story will inspire children to believe that their goals are achievable if they don’t give up.

Any blog or book related feedback and questions are most welcome. I would love to hear from you. I would also love to receive photographs of children enjoying this feel good story.  Make story time a special time and remember to keep reading!
