“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.” – Andrew Carnegie.

Working as a team can be challenging but also very rewarding. To work as a team means using our individual skills and strengths to contribute to the team’s goal and subsequently its overall success.

“Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.” – Henry Ford.

Effective team work entails channelling your skills so that they complement the skills of others and benefit the team as a whole. It is vital that we do not allow ourselves to be threatened by the capabilities of other team members. We should not work against each other but rather work together as a united force. It is imperative that we recognize that every team member is important, each one has a role to play in contributing to the ultimate success of the team.

“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.” – Phil Jackson.

Teamwork is most commonly associated with sports but team work can also be found in the home, classroom, work environment, government etc. Generally, we think of teamwork as a group of people together in one place but with today’s advanced technology, people in different parts of the world can become team members working towards a goal.

“Unity is strength. . . when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” – Mattie Stepanek.

The current Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic offers us a perfect example of teamwork on so many levels. We are seeing teamwork in our homes, our towns and our countries. We all have a role to play in preventing the spread of the virus. We are also witnessing worldwide teamwork. Nations are working together towards the common goal of combating this virus. United we stand, divided we fall.

“Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much.” – Helen Keller.

The bottom line is that teamwork forms an integral part of our lives. We need to harness the benefits that it offers so that we can use it to not only succeed and achieve the greatest possible potential but also to enrich lives.

“None of us is as smart as all of us.” – Ken Blanchard.

Children need to learn how to work as a team from a very early age particularly within the family and school environments. This can be challenging for little ones that are still discovering their own abilities and strengths. It is for this reason that I wrote the “Aggi the Ant” book. The story highlights the importance of teamwork. Aggi the ant shows children the benefits of teamwork and that every team member is important. Crawl into this delightful book and join Aggi on her exciting adventure.

Get your copy of “Aggi the ant” from Amazon and various other leading online retailers. I hope this story will help children to understand the benefits of teamwork and motivate them to contribute their very best efforts when working as part of a team.
